PERFECTLY DRIVED

Perfect Blue:

A film about how projections can change the way a person sees himself, for better or for worse. About what you become when you're asked what you are, and how disoriented that can make you.

The story follows Mima, a pop idol who finds herself changing her life to something totally different than what she was used to. And, with this exchange, problems are caused around them, problems that generate frustrations for secondary characters, such frustrations that end up becoming the main theme of the film. The agent and the stalker are characters who created a perception of the protagonist and forced her to see this vision of herself, however, these visions disturb her so much that they end up breaking what would be reality. Would reality be what people see of me, or what I see of myself. What if the lies people tell were so widespread that they became the truth, to the point where I would become confused in my purpose and goals.
The film addresses this idea of projections very well, since we ourselves, viewers, create projections about the characters, they are wrong, however, for us, it is true. The cat's jump is in the idea that the protagonist is in such a disturbed mental state that she can no longer locate herself in the world, she doesn't know if the life she lives is real, she doesn't know if she is being true to herself and ends up breaking mentally. These approaches are perfectly projected into the film, with a script that is purposefully confusing and open to interpretation, a masterclass in narrative coordination and character creation, an absolute classic.
